The FDNL is our state-mandated online archive of Florida newspapers. It features current weekly newspapers, historical runs as we add them, and special feature publications like military and religious newspapers. A great resource – more than 2.6 million pages and growing – provided for FREE use.

INDEX TO THE GOZA-MICKLER NEWSPAPER COLLECTION

P.K. Yonge has 1,530 issues of newspapers with articles about historic events in Florida. Most are newspapers from outside Florida, from 1762 to 1885. This index gives abstracts of the articles and tells you the newspaper name, date, page, and column where they appear.

Chronicling America: A National Newspaper Archive

Search America's historic newspaper pages from 1789 to 1963 or use the U.S. Newspaper Directory to find information about American newspapers published between 1690 and the present. Chronicling America is sponsored jointly by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Library of Congress.

Al Burt's Florida – Public Talks

Alvin Victor "Al" Burt, reporter and columnist for the Miami Herald, was Florida's recognized 'first journalist' about "Old Florida." Documenting out-of-the-way places, rural folkways, and vanishing traditions, he was an advocate for conserving Florida's natural beauty and appreciating its heritage.
